What is TNR?

What Is TNR?

TNR is the process of trapping feral cats in the colony they live in, altering (spaying or neutering), and vaccinating each feline and returning them to the colony with their ear tipped.  Ear tipping is a method used during TNR so there is a visible marker to indicate the animal has already been altered.  Vaccinations are not required but highly recommended to help prevent the spread of disease.

If I don’t want the cat back, can you bring him somewhere? Unfortunately, there are far more feral cats than there are resources for these animals. At this time feral cats must be returned to their homes/colonies.

What can I do about feral cats harassing my cats and using my garden as their bathroom? Get them fixed! Spaying and neutering stops fighting, roaming and other unwanted behaviors. To keep cats out of your yard, visit: www.cat-repellant.info for humane solutions to keep feral cats away from your home and pets.

What should I do when I trap a feral cat? Please contact Cat Care Durango before trapping any cats if you are requiring help with a colony.  Call (970)946-0768 and let us know. We will help advise you.
